BILLOW AND BLOOM, 2019

Billow and Bloom was created to converse with the unique volume and light of the third floor lounge "Broadway Bar" at Nordstrom's newly renovated New York City flagship store at 57th and Broadway. The elegant intimate gathering space was designed by Architecture at Large, a multidisciplinary practice founded by Rafael de Cárdenas. Created in semi-transparent overlays of scrim fabric over rigid frames and offering multiple viewpoints, the bell shaped open forms evoked at once vessels, botanicals, and perhaps even billowing skirts.
